It's been some time since I first came across this solution, but now I'm back just to say big thanks for the ViewModelBehavior! It saved my nerves hundreds of time. This idea is nice, easy and works in all cases. Having a year-long experience with it I can say it's awesome. It's not possible to live without it. Cheers!

That's doable in Silverlght. I don't know how to hack it into WPF, you would probably be better off using a custom Textbox that is capable of it.

Isaiah: You need to learn to use your computer. That fancy GUI layer you like to click on does none of the actual work :P Make a shortcut to the .exe file, right click, select "Properties", but the exe name in double quotes, ", add arguments as shown in the explanation above. Or make a .bat file (google this).

I don't understand how to use this. Where do you put the parameters/file-path? I can't even OPEN the .EXE, it just fails and closes. Where do I provide arguments? How do I if the EXE just shuts down before I can type anything.

Take a look at the reference implementation Morgan McGuire provides on the NVIDIA website, I found that to be very helpful in deciphering his AOV paper.

I'm also trying to implement AOV. I think I'm near the end, but still i find some problems. If it's not a big problem, could You make another, more detailed, post about Your implementation of AOV? Did You implemented it successfuly? Did you had any problems? What kind of? Maybe some code samples? I'd be very greatefull.

You need to add the following attribute to your Package class,

// --- Microsoft.VisualStudio.VSConstants.UICONTEXT_NoSolution
[ProvideAutoLoad("ADFC4E64-0397-11D1-9F4E-00A0C911004F")]

That will tell visual studio to load your package when no solution is present, and before any solution is opened.

You can find some other GUIDs you can use to tell VS when to load your package here,

Note: This is only Visual Studio 2010, to do this same thing in VS2008 or lower you need to use the RegisterAutoLoadAttribute attribute with a different GUID,

That's the problem, it's a Windows Forms app. This is only for WPF.
